ACTU Presents Duo Arpeggione

Arts for the Community at 澳门受权博彩网站 (ACTU) presents a Friday at Noon concert featuring Duo Arpeggione on Friday, 10月20日 at 托马斯维尔 First Church located at 425 N Broad St, 托马斯维尔，GA 31792. 

Duo Arpeggione features renowned cellist Claudio Jaffé, who has been hailed by The New York Times as “an elegant and accomplished artist” and pianist Dr. Catherine Lan, who earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from 大学 of Miami.

“We are excited about the caliber of these artists and the program is going to be great.” stated series coordinator and Professor of Music Dr. 卡尔·巴顿. The program will feature works by Saint-Saëns, Chopin, Edvard Grieg, and Arthur Foote. 

Dr. Claudio Jaffé fascinates his audiences with his colorful and passionate virtuosity. As a recitalist and chamber musician, Jaffé has performed in prestigious concert halls around the world, including the Weill Recital Hall, 市政厅, and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City; the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC; the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires; Sala Cecilia Meireles in Rio de Janeiro; Sociedade Cultura Artistica in 圣保罗; Wigmore Hall in London; Suntory Hall in Tokyo; and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. His performance was found to be “eloquent with pathos and tenderness” by the New London Day, which further commented on Jaffé’s “superb intonation, 强劲的声音, and overall musical command”. 

A winner of the International Villa-Lobos Cello Competition, Jaffé has performed with international orchestras such as the Slovak Philharmonic, 卡尔加里交响乐团, and the 巴西ian orchestras of Rio de Janeiro, 圣保罗, 帕拉伊巴, 和哥亚尼亚. 出生于圣保罗, 巴西, Jaffé began his cello studies at the age of seven and gave his first public concert at the age of eleven. Jaffé earned his undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees from Yale 大学 under Parisot’s tutelage. Jaffé studied in Master classes and special workshops with great masters of the cello including Yo-Yo Ma, 林恩·哈勒尔, 保罗Tortelier, 东京弦乐四重奏, Janos斯塔克, 纳撒尼尔·罗森, 和拉尔夫·科什鲍姆.

Dr. Lan received her Bachelor of Music from 大学 of British-Columbia, Master of Music from Indiana 大学 (Bloomington), and Doctor of Musical Arts from 大学 of Miami, Dr. Lan currently serves on the faculty of Broward College, performs globally with Steinway Artist, 道林, as 二人派美术.
